Getting to the Festival
How do I get to the festival?
We would love you to walk, catch a bus, train or ride share. Find out more here.
How do I get from the train station to the festival site?
The train station is a 15 minute walk, 5 minute cycle. Taxis are readily available at the station. You can find directions here.
I’d like to cycle. Is there somewhere safe to leave my bike?
We have an area inside the perimeter fencing, near the gate, which is not generally accessible to the public. You are welcome to leave your bike there. Please note that it is not a secure area, and we cannot be responsible for bikes left there, so you are advised to lock it too.
Where can I park at the festival?
There is very limited car parking available on site and no vehicles can be left on site overnight. However there are plenty of car parks available in Wokingham Town Centre, just a short walk from the Festival site. Please click here for a list of available parking.
If you park in the residential roads near the Festival site (and we would really rather you did not), please be respectful of our neighbours and leave them plenty of room to get in and out of their driveways.
Visitors are advised to walk or use public transport where possible.
The Festival site
Where is the festival held?
Wokingham Festival will be held in Cantley Event Field, accessed via Twyford Road. There is strictly no access permitted via Milton Road.
To find us on Google Maps click here. Our address can be found on the Contact page.
What can’t I bring to the festival?
No animals (except guide dogs and assistance dogs).
No glass (bottles, jars etc).
No alcohol.
No food (except baby food, or special diet if our stalls can’t offer something that you can eat)
No open fires or disposable barbecues.
No fireworks, sky lanterns, smoke canisters, kites or drones.
No independent sound systems.
No illegal drugs, legal highs or nitrous oxide.
No weapons.
No gazebos.
Ticket holders are subject to search by authorised security upon entry and during the event.
Can I bring in my own alcohol?
No.
As a not-for-profit festival, we rely on the income from the vendors to help keep the festival running each year. There is a wide supply of drinks available for purchase, so please support the bars and ensure Wokingham Festival keeps running for many years to come.
Can I bring a picnic into the festival?
No.
As a not-for-profit festival we rely on the income from the vendors to help keep the festival running each year. We and our food and drink vendors work hard to ensure that there is a wide supply of delicious food available for purchase, including many special diets, so please support the food stalls and ensure Wokingham Festival keeps running for many years to come.
What sort of food and drink is available?
Whether you fancy a hot chocolate and cake, or a beer and a burger, we’ve got you covered. You can find details of all our vendors here.
Can I get cash out at the festival?
No, we do not have any cash dispensers, and there are none in the immediate vinicinity (although there are plenty in town). Most of the vendors at the festival can take card payments, but it’s worth bringing a bit of cash – just in case!
Is the festival under cover?
The festival is located in a big open field, and we have very limited covered areas.
Can I bring my own chair?
Of course! You are very welcome to bring your own chair or rug if you wish.
Can I bring my own tent?
No.
To allow everyone to get a good view of the stages, we ask that you don’t bring tents with you. We may allow small and low shade tents in extremely hot weather at the festival organisers’ discretion.
Can I camp at the festival?
We’re sorry to say that we don't have enough space at the event to be able to offer camping. There are some campsites in the area, about 3-4 miles away from Cantley Park Event Field.
Alternatively, there is a Premier Inn in Wokingham town centre, about a mile from the event field, and a number of B&Bs in the local area, or Cantley House Hotel next door to the event field.
Pets
Can I bring my pet?
No, unfortunately we are only permitted to allow entry to guide dogs and assistance dogs. It wouldn’t be much fun for them anyway.
Accessibility
If I have a disability is this event suitable for me?
Yes, absolutely. The whole site is accessible, however please note the following:
We have a disabled toilet (the standard portaloo kind, so it's large enough to get a wheelchair into, but depending on your level of mobility, it may be a bit tight if a wheelchair user needs help from a carer to help with transfers onto and off the toilet).
We have reserved parking spaces near the gate for disabled attendees. Please display your blue badge on arrival, and ask our lovely car park stewards to direct you to them when you arrive.
This is an outdoor festival on grass in Cantley Park, so although the area is more-or-less flat, it will have a certain level of unevenness. There are no hard pathways within the arena confines.
I need help to visit the festival. What do I need to do?
We offer a free carer's ticket for those who are registered disabled and who need assistance to attend the festival. To apply, please use our Accessibility form. You’ll find it easiest to download the form, and complete it electronically, save it, and attached the completed copy to an email message, together with the appropriate supporting documentation. The same form can be used by those who need to bring an Assistance Dog.
This is a fillable PDF, so it can be all be completed and saved electronically. Many browsers support this, but you may find it easier to use the free Adobe Acrobat Reader software, which you can download from https://www.adobe.com/uk/acrobat/pdf-reader.html if you don't already have a copy of it. Please email it back to us at the address at the top of the form, together with your supporting documentation, once you have completed it.
If you prefer to send your application by post, our office address is included on the form, but please note that if you send it by post, it does need to reach us at least a week before the start of the festival, as after that time, we’ll be out of the office getting everything set up.
Please purchase your own ticket in the normal way. On receipt of your completed form with your ticket number on it and a copy of your supporting documentation, we will put a relevant note on your order which will be visible to the staff on the Advance Ticketholder gate when you arrive.
After the Festival
Who do I contact about Lost Property?
Please contact us with a detailed description of the item and where you last had it.
How do I give my feedback to the organisers?
We’d love to hear from you, the good and the bad – contact us here.
Taking Part
How can I get involved in Stewarding / Volunteering at the festival?
We are always on the hunt for amazing people to join our team. It takes an awful lot of hard work to run a festival, so whether you’re 16 or 60, we’ll have a perfect role for you! If you’d like to apply, we’d love to hear from you via our Volunteer page.
How can I play at the festival?
We love discovering new artists, and whilst we won’t be able to accommodate everyone, we would love to hear from you! If you’d like to apply, please complete the artists form - but please note that we do usually have our line-up finalised at least 6 months or more ahead of the festival each year.
I am a trader – how do I apply to trade at the festival?
We try to pack in as wide range of vendors as possible within the arena space, from food and drink to arts and crafts. If you’d like to find out more about becoming a vendor, please enquire via our traders’ form.
Who runs the festival?
The festival is organised and run by a core team of Directors who all volunteer their time free of charge throughout the year to plan and run the event. And we couldn’t do it without the help of a host of dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly to set up and marshal the event before, during and after the Bank Holiday weekend. If you’d like to find out more about the team behind the festival, you’ll find information about us all at Meet the Team.
