Leoni Jane Kenedy

Monday | Wokingham Music Club Stage | 3.15pm

Leoni Jane Kennedy is a Blackpool born, Guildford based singer-songwriter, often described as 'haunting' by her audiences. With intricate guitar riffs alongside powerful, soulful vocals, she is achieving a new rock sound with progressive influence in her rhythmic and melodic structures and lyrics that surpass her years. Leoni was hooked on blues rock from a young age after being gifted a CD of Status Quo. Their greatest hits album was stuck on repeat until 2011, when she finally got to see the band live at Lytham Proms. Leoni’s music is also influenced by the likes of Rush, King Crimson, Genesis, ToTo and many bands from a diverse range of genres which is reflected in her songwriting - according to previous audiences, “no song sounds the same”.

In 2013, Leoni received an artist sponsorship from Yamaha and was endorsed by Orange Amplification, and in her later years, also received endorsements from PRS Guitars and Boss Pedals. In 2018,  'Queen's’ Brian May and Roger Taylor awarded Leoni the 'Freddie Mercury' Scholarship after approving of her music and individuality, covering her entire university tuition fees. During her time at ACM, Leoni and her band went into ACM's SSL studio with producer of Motörhead and Uriah Heep, John Gallen, and recorded a live album consisting of 7 songs and Leoni's latest single "Life Like This". Leoni graduated in 2020 with a 1st Class BA Honours Degree in Music Industry Practice and is currently a full time musician now living in Camden to complete a Masters Degree, whilst hoping to tackle the London music scene, expand her network, and get her big break!

“ When I judged 'Rock The House' Under 19's National competition in London, this 13 year old certainly grabbed my attention and completely blew me away with her talent! Fast forward two years and a video of Leoni covering a prog rock song by 'Rush' got 17,000 hits in 48 hours via Planet Rock's website. Acoustic or electric, solo or with a band, Leoni definitely has a bright future! ” - Paul Anthony, Planet Rock Radio -
